Now, the Khiladi returns to in his original avatar of an action hero as the last resort. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prabhu Deva have joined hands for an action film – Rowdy Rathore - with Kumar playing the title role. The film is an out-and-out action flick. And Akshay is leaving no stone unturned to take his action image to the next level. He will soon set off on a two-month training to learn a new and brutal form of martial art for the film. The superstar started out as an action hero but after tasting sweet success with the cult comic caper Hera Pheri, he strategically shifted to doing mindless comedies. For a while some of those films worked but like they say— too much of anything is not good. So at some point his goofy act got repetitive and the audience began to zone out. When Thank You released, I recollect overhearing two young men (while I stood in queue to buy tickets) swearing off Akshay Kumar’s films after they watched Thank You. His return as the host of the new season of ‘Khatron Ka Khiladi’ also hasn’t garnered the expected high TRPs. We’ll have to wait and see if his original action-hero avatar brings back the bouquets for him.
