Currently riding high on the success of the offbeat Delhi Belly, Imran Khan will be seen in a totally contrast character and film. We wonder if he has it in him to be in Bollywood
The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor loves Hindi films but he is not your typical Bollywood hero. Imran, born in India and brought up in the US, is anything but filmy. Be it his attitude, friends and films, the actor apes his mamu jaan trying to strike a balance between real and reel life. But for his next film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Imran has gone totally filmy and he also boogies with Katrina Kaif in it. So far, the only song that he thinks comes close to a Bollywood song and dance routine is Bahara with Sonam in I Hate Luv Storys.
The Delhi Belly actor confesses that when it comes to the Bollywood-style jhatkas and matkas, he takes his sweet time to get into the groove. About his latest film, Imran says, “MBKD is an earthier film. It is a classic song and dance, Yash Raj kind of Bollywood film.” In the title track Imran imitates dance steps of Salman Khan (Dabangg title song), mamu Aamir Khan (Aati Kya Khandala fromGhulam) and Shahrukh Khan (Chaiyya chaiyya from Dil Se). “I took a while to get into it but it was fun,” says Imran. Apart from that this is his first experience of a quintessential Yash Raj film about romance, with a Punjabi tadka and some sarson ke khet. So, will he succeed in breaking away from his cool boy-next-door image to the eternal Bollywood lover? Maybe or maybe not.
