Rani Mukerji to romance South actor Prithviraj Sukumaran

The actors will be paired opposite each other in the Marathi  director Sachin Kundalkar’s debut Bollywood film

Rani Mukherji who was almost wiped off into oblivion made a comeback this year with No One Killed Jessica. After an illustrious career of both good and bad films, the actor has now taken an unconventional step in her choice of films.Rani has signed up for a role in acclaimed Marathi filmmaker, Sachin Kundalkar’s upcoming Hindi film. After being paired opposite the crème de le crème of Bollywood, the actor now takes on the South industry as well. Rani will be paired opposite Malayalam film’s heartthrob, Prithviraj Sukumaran in the movie. The film produced by Anurag Kashyap will see Rani as a Marathi girl while Prithviraj will be playing a Tamil painter. Titled Aaiya, the film is a quirky love story between the two set in Mumbai.

Before No One Killed Jessica, Rani was facing an all time low with consecutive flops at the box office. But Rani is going all out to prepare for the role; she is getting her diction, body language and the shade of her character right. While the actor is all ready to experiment withAaiya will it work to her benefit, only time will tell.

‘Rockstar’ Ranbir Kapoor is all praises for Nargis Fakhri!!

Ranbir Kapoor is all ready to romance his newbie co star Nargis Fakhri in the most awaited film Rockstar. News has it that the Jr Kapoor is all praises for his co star.

“Nargis is an amazing actor. She is a big boon to our film. We are lucky to have her on board our film,” Ranbir told reporters during his trip to Delhi and Noida.

“I pray that audiences accept Nargis as this is her first film. I request everyone to be kind to her. It feels really nice to know that people are liking our chemistry on screen,” Ranbir added.

The actor unveiled the poster of Rockstar at the Centrestage mall in Noida. The mall was thronged by thousands of fans who cheered for the Rockstar actor who actually looked like a real rocker in a pair of jeans, green kurta and a jacket.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is slated for a Nov 11 release.

AKSHAY KUMAR AND JOHN TOGETHER AGAIN IN DESI BOYZ

The duo was last seen sharing screen space in Garam Masala. The movie failed miserably, but the two didn’t lose touch and now they are back again with Desi Boyz

John Abraham’s expressionless face and Akshay Kumar’s slapstick humour together don’t exactly make for a great combination. The promo of Desi Boyz is now out and, as expected, the two aren’t doing much apart from flexing their muscles and flashing those pearlies. InGaram Masala, they played the roles of two wannabe photographers wooing every single girl who comes their way. Desi Boyz, despite having a completely different storyline and characterisation, gives us a feeling of déjà vu, taking us back to those horrid days when we went into shock after watching the two hunky men trying their hand at ‘comedy’ for the very first time. They surely do have the courage to do the same thing again, but this time, of course, with a better packaging – Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh add delectable flavour to the comedy as the main female leads. We can endure virtually everything that’s happening in B-town, but tolerating John and Akshay’s awful antics in the same frame….spare us!

MAUSAM MOVIE REVIEW

Well, the wait was over and Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut film, with his son Shahid Kapoor in the lead has finally hit the screens? Judging by the overall critical reviews, one would have to say that Mausam has been recieved pretty badly by most critics with the rating being a mere 2/5 by many. So, is the “timeless love story” a mere time waste or can it be watched for the performances of its lead pair and some good music?

COMPETITION OF AAMIR KHAN WITH SRK AND SALMAN AND BIG B

Apparently Aamir Khan has finally said ‘yes’ to a reality show on Indian television, following in the tracks of Anitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and others. With so many stars hosting reality series, we wonder how this one will be different

At last the perfectionist Khan has bitten the bait. Apparently Aamir has agreed to be a part of a TV reality show that is being developed and written by the actor’s school friend and director of Zokkomon, Satyajeet Bhatkal. And if all goes well, Aamir will begin shooting as soon as he wraps up Reema Kagti’s film with Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor. We are sure that the concept of the new show must be something extraordinary, since Aamir is one of the most difficult actors to please when it comes to something he has to be such an integral part of. He likes to get into every little detail and know everything there is to know about everything. But where knowing and this show is concerned, we’ll have to be patient, because no one is willing to tell us anything more than this. Though what we’d like to know for the moment is if Aamir’s buddy Salman Khan, who recently got Sanjay Dutt to be a part of Bigg Boss, had any influence on his decision to take a bow on the small screen. A few years ago Amitabh Bachchan started the trend of star actors hosting shows on television, followed by Shahrukh Khan for the same show – Kaun Banega Crorepati. Then suddenly every celebrity worth their acting chops was becoming part of the television world. That kind of killed the whole fad. In fact, two of SRK’s shows – Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? and Zor Ka Jhatka – got a serious beating in the ratings game. But it looks like the trend is picking up once again. Big B and Akshay Kumar (Khatron ke Khiladi) have always returned as hosts of their respective shows, Hrithik Roshan is doing a decent job with Just Dance and Salman will be joined by buddy Sanjay Dutt on Bigg Boss, while SRK is playing the remote control card by producing Preity Zinta’s new show (Up Close and Personal with PZ!). Now so many of Aamir’s contemporaries already on the idiot box, this one’s going to be a tough cookie to crack, but we are sure he will make his attempt a worthy watch. After all, he ain’t no idiot, never mind what his films may be called!

Shahid Kapoor has reached an understanding with his producers of Mausam to reduce his signing amount and in exchange share the film’s profits. Well, guess he is following Kareena Kapoor’s footsteps. Bebo has done the same with her forthcoming flick, ‘Heroine’.

Shahid who had taken 7 crore as the signing amount for Mausam, has returned the money to producer Sheetal Talwar and in exchange, he will share the profits of the film.

According to a source, “Sheetal was initially taken aback when Shahid returned the cheque and asked to be a shareholder instead. But then she readily agreed to Shahid’s terms.”

“Also, considering Mausam is Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapoor’s debut film as a director, Shahid didn’t feel like charging for the film,” explained the source.

Not only is the bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan expecting a bundle of joy, but she also has been honoured with the Pazhassi Raja Purashkaram Abhinaya Kaala Ratna award. The award is instituted by the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust, which was formed in the memory of freedom fighter Veera Pazhassi Raja.

The actress could not attend the award distribution ceremony because of her pregnancy but she conveyed her thanks in a message which dedicated the award to “every professional I have worked with… all my audiences in India and the world… and my family.”

Other award winners of this year included Lata Mangeshkar and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. So we have yet another chance to congratulate the beautiful lady!!

The actor admitted to Simi Garewal on her chat show Simi Selects India’s Most Desirable that he secretly adores Scarlett Johansson. On being asked whom he thinks has redefined their status as to become a symbol of desirability, he said, “Scarlett Johansson is extremely desirable. She is the one woman who I think I love. The mature kind.” On being asked if he could fall in love with a simple ordinary girl he said, “I think the best thing for an actor is to date an ordinary simple girl because it kind of brings back a certain amount of normalcy into your life. I think it would be great for an actor to date somebody who is not from the film industry. I think it kind of opens your horizons but the chances of that happening are very limited.” We wonder what Priyanka has to say about that!

Rumour is that the Guzaarish director has once again become interested in his pet project, Bajirao Mastani. But with things no longer rosy between him and his favourite actor, will it happen?

It is rumoured that Guzaarish director may revive his favourite film script, Bajirao Mastani. And we think it could be true because it’s almost a year since Sanjay Leela Bhansali released the Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan drama, which may have won awards but did not light up the BO! While the filmmaker is known to take long breaks between his films, it looks like this time he is having great difficulty finding something to his liking to work on. After the disappointing outcome of Guzaarish at the box-office, we heard that Bhansali was going to move away from his fave cinematic dramas and do something more real. But we did not hear any more on that. Apparently there are quite a few story ideas floating around and being developed in the Bhansali office, but nothing has been finalised yet. So it won’t come as a surprise to us if the passionate filmmaker goes back to his most treasured story of the Maratha general, Bajirao, and his Muslim wife, Mastani. The first time that the Guzaarishdirector decided to make this bit of history into a film, he planned to rope in real-life couple Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The star couple’s love story went kaput and so did Bhansali’s coveted project. A few years later, we again heard rumours of a revival of the intense love story, this time starring Salman and Kareena Kapoor. But that fizzled out too. At last, now, will Bhansali get lucky? We doubt it, especially since now he and his favourite actor Salman are not exactly friends any more. But then in Bollywood it takes one night for friends to turn into foes and vice versa. So our guess is as good as yours…

Kareena Kapoor hasn’t said it openly yet, but it seems she is not happy with her RA.Oneproducer and co-star, Shahrukh Khan. First she goes around claiming that she doesn’t belong to any camp – she is friendly with Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shahrukh, and will work with all of them. Then she openly claims her role in Bodyguard is far better than her role inRA.One. When both are completely different films, there is no need to come up with such statements, even if it’s just because you are promoting one film and not another, no! What will she do when it’s time for her to promote RA.One? In the latest incident, she was part of a function honouring real-life bodyguards of our B-town actors. She claimed they were all bodyguards of the heroes she’s worked with. So she felicitated bodyguards of Saif Ali Khan, Aamir, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. None of this surprised us, but what we did raise our eyebrows at was the fact that she also felicitated Amitabh Bachchan’s bodyguard. Now we know the Kapoors and the Bachchans are just cordial with each other at best, something that happened after Abhishek and Karisma’s engagement broke off. As are the Bachchans and Salman, because of the Ash-Sallu jhamela. So was AB’s man part of the event because of the producers Reliance Entertainment’s close ties with the Bachchans? Salman didn’t have a say? And if that was the case, then why wasn’t Shahrukh’s bodyguard felicitated? SRK is Kareena’s onscreen hero too. When quizzed about it, Bebo said, “I don’t know the exact reason. I am sure Reliance would have asked him too and maybe Shahrukh was busy and his bodyguard was with him, but I really don’t know the exact reason. In fact, we should give Shahrukh’s bodyguard a round of applause.” Very diplomatic, KK. But we wonder if a certain Ms Chopra’s cameo in RA.One – added on the behest of King Khan – had anything to do with it.

You know all about how Katrina Kaif slapped Imran Khan for a scene in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. It took a while for the two to get the take right and, in the process, Katrina ended up slapping Imran a dozen times! Poor Immi was left with a puffy red face. So sad, no? But apparently that was not the only painful thing that transpired between the two. Imran got his own back – even if it was just accidentally. The two were shooting a quirky scene when director Ali Abbas Zafar felt something was missing. After some thought, he introduced a gun in the scene as… errr… a fun element. No, it didn’t go off, but Imran did accidentally hit Katrina’s nose with the gun. We can just imagine how shocked she must have been! Kat’s nose began to bleed profusely and shooting had to be halted. But Kat, being the professional she is, resumed shooting as soon as she was able to. Warning: Producers, don’t cast these two again. They make a cute pair, but if they act together again, they’ll just end up destroying each other’s pretty faces.

Unlike other real-life ‘inspired’ roles, Gupta intends to make his film’s character very much like the criminal. Well, whether John’s characterisation comes close to Manya’s persona or not, wethinks this baddie role will give the much needed boast to John’s rather dull career. Remember how when the last time the good-looking actor played a bad guy in Dhoom, his luck changed drastically? Suddenly the expressionless actor found a long queue of producers waiting outside his house. It lasted for a while, but John’s steady flops (Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, Jhootha Hi Sahi) drove away those same filmmakers. Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ breaks all records

Salman has scored a hattrick this Eid with Bodyguard, as he continues to break his own records which he had set with Dabanng and Ready. Trade analysts have gone on record that as of now, Salman’s the only star who can guarantee such a huge opening at the box office.Last Eid, Dabangg had managed to garner Rs. 14 crore, breaking 3 Idiots’ record of Rs. 13 crore. On its opening day, Bodyguard managed to rake in Rs. 21 crore net (breaking the record set byDabanng), the highest ever in the history of Bollywood! On the second day (Thursday), the film managed to earn about Rs. 19 crore. Producer Atul Agnihotri expects Bodyguard to cross Rs. 80-85 crore in India by the time the weekend is over.

X Factor India’s first season will finally come to an end this Friday, and it promises to be the most electrifying episode so far. The three finalists – Geet Sagar, Sajda Sisters and Seema Jha will perform Katrina’s hit songs as they wait for the winner to be announced. No, we are not telling you who has won it, but we are going to tell you who are the special guests that day. And they are none other than Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. Yes, they will be promoting their upcoming film Mere Brother ki Dulhan too on the show. So Katrina and Imran will dance to the title track of the movie, while Ali Zafar will perform his songs. Seema singsSheila ki jawani and impresses Katrina so much that the actor comes back on stage to dance to dhunki with Seema! Judge Shreya Ghoshal too performs sensuous songs while Sonu Niigaam sings a medley and Sanjay Leela Bhansali recites shayaris (poems). While DK Bose composer Ram Sampath replaced S-E-L in Excel Entertainment, we now hear that the music composer duo Ajay-Atul has replaced the trio in Agneepath

We had seen this coming, especially after we heard the disappointing soundtrack of Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan, but this soon? No! For a very long time, S-E-L have saved their best tunes for their two most favourite production houses: Farhan Ahtar’s Excel Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. But unfortunately they have been replaced by others in both companies. We are not entirely sure about the reason for the ouster, but it is indeed very sad to see that the talented triumvirate is being left out, despite their amazing record with chartbusters in recent times. We smelt something fishy when Karan Johar didn’t show up at the trio’s 15th anniversary celebration. Well, we just hope these recent developments don’t lead to a fall-out, as the rumours doing the rounds have told us. When we spoke to Ram Sampath about him replacing S-E-L in an Excel Entertainment film, he said, “I haven’t replaced anyone in Reema Kagti’s film. She was looking for a music director and Aamir Khan recommended me to her. Aamir, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani (the producers) left the casting choice entirely to Reema.” We are only hoping that the success of Shahrukh Khan’sDon 2 brings the trio back into business.

Mallika Sherawat has been trying to get her hold in Hollywood for long without much success. Recalling her experience, Mallika says, “It was a chilly day, the soap and water was dirty and I wasn’t looking very glam. In between shots, they’d wrap me up in blankets so my teeth would stop clattering.”

Two disparate bits of information, you may think. But here is the point: SRK has been trying to get Gaga to do a song for his ultra-ambitiousRA.One and says that “she knows her business well, she believes in pure, simple, wonderful business”. According to him, Gaga is the superstar of reinvention and listening to her music has been a matter of personal reinvention for Shahrukh.
